Forum: forums Subject: Problems With Upload Of Large File: ADD Button Question

Greetings Archive Techs,

I started uploading a mpg file to Open Source Movies last night at 8 PM CT. The file is just over 2 GB. This is my first encounter with the need to use "ADD" rather than "SHARE" because of the size of the file. There is no "progress feedback." It is now 11:20 AM CT, over fifteen hours have passed. Before the SHARE was disabled for files over 2 GB, I had been able to upload files of around 5 GB in far less time. I'm not sure what's happening, but I assume that the file has not been fully loaded, because it's not in the Tree Root folder, and the little upload circle is still going around and around. 2 questions:

1 How can I find out if any progress at all has been made in uploading this file?

2 Is there indeed a significantly longer time required to upload via ADD than via SHARE, and, if so, how much longer (twice as long? three times?) is that time usually?

Here's the detail page for relating to this question:

As always, I appreciate your help, thanks.

3:10 PM. I gave up. When I put the cursor over the spinning circle next to the file, it said 0% Uploaded, after 19 hours, nothing. Obviously something's wrong. Please solve this problem, thanks.

I created an avi file of somewhat lesser quality and of a smaller size to upload to this post for the present. Please inform me when the problems relating to uploading larger files have been addressed. Best of wishes to the Archive staff for all efforts, thanks. C. Goff
